Wayne State University's Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors (CURES), Wayne State's DOTS (Diabetes, Obesity and Team Science) group, and the Michigan Chapter of the Society of Toxicology, are jointly sponsoring an all-day symposium, "Urban Environmental Influences on Metabolic Health," to be held on October 26, 2017 at Wayne State University's Student Center - Ballroom C.

The symposium will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Bruce Blumberg from the University of California-Irvine. Dr. Blumberg is internationally recognized for his work on chemical "obesogens." The symposium will also include talks by five local and regional researchers who will address a range of topics including the basic biology of fat metabolism; the impact of environmental pollutants on obesity and its associated health problems; and behavioral intervention strategies to reduce obesity and its risks. The symposium will also feature a talk by a representative of the Detroit Food Policy Council, a lunchtime poster session, and three short talks by graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.To view the full agenda, visit here.
